A native Georgian, Mr. Summerford received his B.A. degree in Political Science and History in 1993 from Mercer University in Macon.  While at Mercer, he was Grand Master (President) of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was awarded the Kappa Sigma National Scholarship-Leadership Award.   Lee also received the Georgia Baptist Heritage Scholarship, the Clifton Forrester Memorial Scholarship, and served as Founding President of the History Honor Society which later became a chapter of Phi Alpha Theta the National History Honor Society.

Mr. Summerford went on to attend the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, where he graduated cum laude in 1996.  He served as Senior Managing Editor of the Mercer Law Review and was a member of the Brainerd Currie Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.  Graduating in the top two percent of his class, Lee received American Jurisprudence Awards in Property, Torts, American Legal History, Civil Procedure II and Secured Transactions (Article 9).  He was also named the 1996 Tax Scholar by the Georgia Federal Tax Conference and received the James C. Rehberg Academic Scholarship.

Mr. Summerford has been an oustanding athlete ever since his first days as a toddler on the T-ball field. Coached by his father, Mr. Summerford rose through the amateur ranks from little league to college intramurals, to the pinaccle of all competitive sports: recreational softball. Mr. Summerford was recently overheard saying that playing for the LAWDAWGS means more to him than mowing the lawn on a hot summer day or even washing the cars in the spring while being attacked by gnats.
